About Me
I am an undergraduate student at CSU Channel Islands majoring in Data Science & Psychology with a minor in Statistics. I am enthusiastic about using the programming language R to do data analysis and visualization, and hope to one day work a meaningful job in which I can combine my various skillsets and existing knowledge of many things. In my free time, I enjoy various outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, surfing of any kind, and indoor activities like making this primitive website, working on electronics, and learning about history and mythology.

Research
This summer, I am participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program at CSU Channel Islands. I am contributing to a research project focused on improving how infectious disease outbreaks are modeled in real time. The project uses pathogen genetic data to estimate how the number of infections changes over time, but these estimates can become less reliable near the present because recently collected samples may not yet have been processed and reported. We are examining how these reporting delays, along with changes in how frequently samples are collected during an outbreak, affect the accuracy and precision of several statistical models. My work has involved comparing the performance of four models across simulated outbreak scenarios to identify which approaches provide the most reliable estimates when these real-world complications are present. Through this experience, I have gained a stronger understanding of Bayesian statistics and infectious disease modeling while continuing to develop my skills in R, RStudio, GitHub, simulation, and statistical analysis.
